Both onion domes were completely resurfaced and repairs were made to the remaining cupola lantern above the bell tower in the Fall of 2013.  The cupolas topped with onion domes are positioned over both the bell tower (west end) and central dome (east end) of the cathedral.  The last known resurfacing of the onion domes was done in the late 1980’s.  In 2009,  the east cupola lantern was inspected and some missing metal detail was replaced. The surface was prepped and repainted to match the new color scheme; however, the onion dome was untouched.

Total cost of the re-cladding was $50,000 and the fundraising goal was met.  Click here to learn more.
